Privacy policy

Tuckleaf collects no data about you. Last updated 19 October 2026.

Tuckleaf is a notebook for new words you find while reading. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising. We have no servers, and the app sends nothing to us.

What stays on your iPhone

The words you save, the lines and books you attach, your notes, your practice history and your settings are stored on your iPhone, in Tuckleaf's own storage. Your iPhone's backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) includes them, like other app data. We cannot see that backup.

Deleting your data

You can delete any word in the app. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored, except a small note of how many free words you used (see Purchases). We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.

Purchases

Tuckleaf Lifetime, the one-time unlock, is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment. We receive no payment details, name or email. The app keeps a note on your iPhone that the unlock is owned, and a count of the free words used so far. That count is also kept in your iPhone's Keychain so it survives reinstalling the app. It never leaves your iPhone.

Microphone

"Say it" records a few seconds of your voice so you can compare it with the spoken word. For a saved word, your latest recording is kept on your iPhone so you can hear it again; the next one replaces it, and it is deleted with the word. It is not included in iCloud backups and never leaves your iPhone. A recording of a word you have not saved is deleted when you leave it.

Camera

Scanning a line from a printed page uses the camera to read text on your iPhone. No photo or video is saved.

Kindle import

A Kindle file you choose is read on your iPhone to find words and sentences. A temporary copy is deleted when the import finishes.

iPhone search

Saved words are indexed on your iPhone so iPhone search can find them. The index stays on your iPhone and is removed with the app.

Apple features

On iPhones that have Apple Intelligence, a few optional extras (such as "In plain words") run through Apple's on-device frameworks. Translating a meaning uses Apple's Translation feature, which may download a language the first time. Nothing from these features is sent to us.

If you choose to share crash reports and diagnostics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to us. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Third parties

We do not sell or share any data, because we collect none. Apple runs the App Store, purchases, backups and the features named above, under Apple's privacy policy.

Children

Tuckleaf collects no data from anyone, including children.

This website

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. Like every website, our host (Vercel) receives technical details of each visit (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We do not use them to identify you. Links to the App Store carry a campaign tag, so App Store Connect can count which link was used; Apple reports these counts to us only as totals.

If you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your message. Ask us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted at this address with a new date.
