Questions
What is free, and what does Tuckleaf Lifetime add?
Free, with no time limit: look up any word, save your first 25 words, and practise and export every word you save. You also get the 16 grammar steps, the verb tables, the Vocabulary list, a sample of each library, and each day's idiom, word pair, grammar topic and everyday phrase.
Tuckleaf Lifetime is one payment. It adds unlimited saved words, all 100 idioms, all 215 word pairs, all 98 grammar topics and all 30 everyday situations. There is no subscription.
Why can I not save more than 25 words for free?
The free words are the first 25 you save on your iPhone, including words you import. Deleting a word does not give you a new free word. Every word you saved stays yours: you can open, practise and export it at any time.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account. Open Tuckleaf, then tap Restore purchase on the unlock page or in Settings. You do not pay again.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds. Ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple gives a refund, Lifetime closes again. Your words and everything you saved stay open.
Where are my words kept?
On your iPhone, in Tuckleaf's own storage. Tuckleaf has no account and no servers, and it does not send your words to us. Your iPhone's own backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) includes them, like other app data.
Can I take my words out?
Yes, always, free or not. In Settings, choose Export as CSV (for a spreadsheet) or Export as JSON. Your words, meanings, lines and books go with them.
How do I add words from my Kindle?
In the Kindle app, select a passage, tap Share, choose Tuckleaf, then tap the word. You can also import your Kindle lookups or highlights: put the file (Vocabulary Builder, My Clippings, or a Kindle notebook export) on your iPhone first, then choose Import from Kindle in Tuckleaf's Settings. On the free plan, imported words count toward your first 25.
Does it need the internet?
No. The dictionary is on your iPhone. You need the internet only to buy or restore Lifetime, and to translate into a new language the first time.
Where do the meanings come from?
From Wiktionary, under CC BY-SA 4.0. The full list of sources is in the app, in Settings › Attributions.
Accessibility
Tuckleaf supports VoiceOver, larger text sizes (Dynamic Type), Dark Mode and Reduce Motion. Every word can be read aloud, slowly too. If something is hard to use, please write to us.
